Since the young age of five, JL Aliah Allen has had a love and fascination with the drums and with performing. Born on November 5, 1993, now seventeen, she spends her time perfecting her skills as a percussionist, a vocalist, and in the studio on her production skills. She is known on stage as Glorious, named after her grandmother, Glorious Cooper, for her engaging and captivating personality that has the ability to light up any room she enters. Glorious can be seen gigging around in DC in popular locations like Blues Alley Jazz Club, Carter Barron Amphitheater, and Mahogany Restaurant and Lounge with groups like the Blues Alley Youth Orchestra, the Music Teaching Project and other collaborations. Currently a senior in high school at the Academy of the Holy Cross, her goals include succeeding in the music industry and giving back to her community and family.

Glorious is an unpredictable force of talent that is destined for success. Pulling her inspiration from such dynamic artists as Miles Davis, Alicia Keys, Drake, and David Guetta, Glorious admires music that has the capability to invoke emotion. “If you can make a person feel with your music then you have reached that person.” Glorious pours all of her emotion and energy into her music with the knowledge that she will be a great success.

The person who provides the strength and determination for Glorious is her mother, Traci Allen, who was nineteen and in college when she had her. “The best thing my mom ever taught me was to choose to be unstoppable; it’s our motto.” Glorious has built her life around music and is pursuing her dream with plans of a summer internship with Sony Music Entertainment and college in the fall of 2011 to get her degree in Performance and Music Production Engineering. Currently she volunteers at the Sitar Arts Center teaching young children about music and performing. Glorious keeps everyone wanting more with her remarkable talent and her unique outgoing personality.
